activities and a special children’s programme.

The TUI Holly is an annual prize awarded by TUI to the best 100 TUI holiday

1970
Iberotel is formed as a private hotel company with six hotels on Majorca.
1971
TUI takes a 50% stake in Iberotel.
1987
Expansion with high-quality hotels in Tunisia and Turkey.
1989
TUI increases its holding in Iberotel to 100%.
1993
The Spanish hotels are handed over to the Spanish partner Riu. This decision is
based on the geographical reorientation planned for the company.
1996
Formation of Egyptotel, a company for managing the Iberotel operations in
Egypt. It is the beginning of rapid expansion in Egypt. Under the slogan “Star
for star quality” the Iberotel Arabella is opened in Hurghada.
1998
Opening of the Iberotel Makadi Beach/Makadi Bay and Iberotel Grand Sharm/Sharm
el Sheikh.
1999
Opening of the Iberotel Palace and Iberotel Lido in Sharm el Sheikh.
2000
Opening of the Iberotel Makadi Oasis.
2003
Iberotel continues to grow and starts operating the biggest ship on the Nile, the
MS Crown Emperor.
2004
Opening of the Iberotel Serra Palace and Bodrum Princess in Turkey. In Egypt,
the Iberotel Dahabeya is opened.
2005
Iberotel Palm Garden, Manavgat/Side, Turkey, opens in May.
Opening of Iberotel Lamaya Resort and a second nile cruise ship, MS Iberotel Crown Empress.
2007
Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah in Fujairah opened in October.
Iberotel currently operates 13 hotels as well as 2 Nile cruise ships in Egypt, 3 hotels in Turkey and 1 hotel in the United Arab Emirates.
2008
Opening of Iberotel Boltenhagen in Germany.
